Spice of Life Hamilton Review – Pizza, Munchy Box & Outstanding Chicken Pakora!

When it comes to ordering a takeaway in Hamilton, there’s certainly no shortage of places to choose from.

This time, I decided to give Spice of Life Hamilton a try, ordering a couple of Scottish takeaway favourites to see how they compared.

On the menu was a spicy chicken and spicy mince pizza, along with a 10-inch munchy box.

And I’ve got to say, this turned out to be a bit of a mixed experience!

Some of the food was absolutely fantastic, including what might just be the best chicken pakora I’ve ever had.

Unfortunately, one part of the munchy box was a pretty big disappointment.

Let’s get into it!

What Did I Order From Spice of Life Hamilton?

For this visit, I went for two takeaway classics.

My order included:

  • Pizza topped with spicy chicken, spicy mince and onion.
  • 10-inch munchy box.

It’s the sort of combination I love trying when reviewing local Indian takeaways.

You get a chance to sample a few different things and see where the takeaway really shines.

And on this occasion, there was one item that completely stole the show.

Spicy Chicken, Spicy Mince & Onion Pizza – Absolutely Lovely!

First up was the pizza.

And this was a really good start!

The pizza had a fantastic cook on it, which is always one of the first things I look for.

There was also plenty of meat, with a generous helping of spicy chicken and spicy mince.

And then there’s the onion.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – adding onion to a spicy chicken and spicy mince pizza is an absolute masterstroke!

It’s such a simple addition, but it works brilliantly with those toppings.

Everything came together really nicely, and I thoroughly enjoyed this one.

Would I order the pizza again? Absolutely, without hesitation.

A very solid effort from Spice of Life Hamilton.

Spice of Life Hamilton 10-Inch Munchy Box Review

Now, onto the munchy box.

If you’re familiar with Scottish takeaways, you’ll know that a good munchy box can be a thing of beauty.

A selection of takeaway favourites packed into one box. What’s not to love?

Unfortunately, this particular munchy box was a tale of two very different experiences.

One item was outstanding.

The other was genuinely disappointing.

Let’s start with the good news!

Chicken Pakora – Possibly the Best I’ve Ever Had!

Now we’re talking!

The chicken pakora from Spice of Life Hamilton was absolutely OUTSTANDING!

And I don’t use that word lightly.

In fact, I’d go as far as saying this might just be the best chicken pakora I’ve ever had.

Or certainly the best I can remember having!

Considering how many takeaways I’ve visited over the years, that’s a pretty big compliment.

This was easily the standout item from the entire order.

I enjoyed it so much that I’d genuinely consider returning to Spice of Life Hamilton just to order the chicken pakora again.

And that’s always a good sign.

When one particular item is memorable enough to make you want to return, you know the takeaway has done something right.

If you’re a fan of chicken pakora, this is definitely somewhere I’d suggest giving a try based on my experience.

Donner Meat – A Big Disappointment

Unfortunately, things took a bit of a turn when it came to the donner meat.

And not in a good way!

I don’t know whether you’ll be able to tell from the photographs, but this might genuinely have been the driest donner meat I’ve ever received from a takeaway.

It really wasn’t what I was expecting.

Now, I don’t know whether the meat had been sitting for a while before my order was prepared or whether this is simply how they normally serve it.

I certainly wouldn’t want to make assumptions about what happened behind the scenes.

But I can only judge what I was given.

And on this occasion, the donner meat was extremely dry.

The biggest issue was that the donner meat made up a substantial portion of the munchy box.

So when one of the main components isn’t particularly enjoyable, it has a noticeable impact on the overall experience.

That was definitely disappointing.

Especially when the chicken pakora sitting alongside it was so incredibly good!

Was Spice of Life Hamilton Worth Trying?

Despite the disappointing donner meat, I’d still say this was a worthwhile takeaway experience.

The pizza was excellent.

The chicken pakora was outstanding.

And those two items were good enough to make up for a lot of the disappointment elsewhere.

That’s the interesting thing about reviewing takeaways.

Sometimes you can have completely different experiences with individual items from the exact same order.

And that’s certainly what happened here.

Would I Order From Spice of Life Hamilton Again?

Absolutely!

But I’d probably be a wee bit more selective with my order next time.

The spicy chicken, spicy mince and onion pizza would be an easy choice.

And the chicken pakora?

That’s practically guaranteed to be going on my next order!

I’d happily return for that alone.

As for the donner meat, I’d be interested to know whether I simply caught them on an off day.

Perhaps another visit would produce a completely different experience.

But based on this particular order, it wasn’t something I’d be rushing to have again.

My Final Verdict on Spice of Life Hamilton

Overall, Spice of Life was a mixed experience, but one with some genuinely excellent food.

The highlights:

🍕 Spicy chicken, spicy mince and onion pizza: Great cook, plenty of toppings and a combination I’d happily order again.

🔥 Chicken pakora: Absolutely outstanding! Potentially the best I’ve ever had.

🥙 Donner meat: Unfortunately, extremely dry and easily the most disappointing part of the order.

Would I recommend giving Spice of Life a try?

Yes, particularly if you’re looking for a good pizza or you’re a fan of chicken pakora.

Just remember that this review reflects my personal experience with one particular order.

And as always, everyone has different tastes!

Have You Tried Spice of Life Hamilton?

Now I want to hear from you!

Have you ordered from Spice of Life before?

Is their chicken pakora as good as I thought, or have I just stumbled across an exceptionally good batch?

And if you’ve tried their donner meat, was your experience different from mine?

I always enjoy hearing different opinions, especially when it comes to local takeaways.
