Flip & Dip Hamilton Review – Peri Chicken, Donner Wrap, Pizza & Wings

It’s been a while since my first visit to Flip & Dip in Hamilton, so I decided it was finally time to head back and try a bit more of the menu.

My first visit was not long after Flip & Dip opened, when I went along specifically to try their viral red donner meat that seemed to be appearing everywhere on social media.

I enjoyed that first visit and always said I’d eventually return to explore more of what they had to offer.

Well, here we are.

This time I went for four different dishes: a peri chicken pizza, peri chicken and rice box, donner wrap and chicken wings.

And while everything was enjoyable enough, there were definitely two clear standouts.

What I Ordered at Flip & Dip Hamilton

For my second visit, I wanted to get a decent mixture from across the menu rather than just going back for the same thing I’d already tried.

We ordered:

  • Peri Chicken Pizza
  • Peri Chicken & Rice Box
  • Donner Wrap
  • Peri Chicken Wings

Having already tried some of their chicken and donner previously, this gave me a much better idea of what Flip & Dip is like beyond the viral red donner that originally brought me through the door.

The Donner Wrap – Possibly My Favourite

Let’s start with what might just have been my favourite of the four — the donner wrap.

I thoroughly enjoyed this.

Sometimes you don’t need to overcomplicate things. A good donner wrap needs plenty of meat, the right balance of sauce and fillings and, most importantly, it needs to hold together well enough to actually enjoy eating it.

This one hit the spot.

It was incredibly close between this and the wings for my favourite dish of the visit, but if you forced me to pick just one, I think the donner wrap might sneak it.

Peri Chicken Wings – Another Standout

Anyone who follows my reviews for long enough will probably discover that I’m a massive wing fan.

Buffalo wings are number one for me, but peri wings aren’t far behind.

So it probably won’t come as much of a surprise that Flip & Dip’s peri chicken wings were another highlight.

Loads of flavour, exactly the sort of thing I enjoy, and definitely something I’d order again.

I also remember the peri chicken strips being particularly good on my first visit, so based on my experiences so far, the peri chicken side of the menu seems to be one of Flip & Dip’s stronger areas.

Peri Chicken Pizza

Next up was the peri chicken pizza.

This falls into what I like to call the “pleasant enough” category.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with it. I enjoyed eating it and I’d happily have it again if it was sitting in front of me.

But when you’re reviewing food, there’s a difference between something being enjoyable and something being good enough that you’d specifically tell someone:

“You need to go and try this.”

For me, the pizza didn’t quite reach that level.

With the choice available at Flip & Dip, I’d personally be pointing you towards the donner wrap or peri wings first.

Peri Chicken & Rice Box

I’d put the peri chicken and rice box in a similar category to the pizza.

Again, perfectly enjoyable and nothing particularly negative to say about it.

It’s a straightforward combination that does what you expect it to do, and if chicken and rice is your usual order, you may enjoy it more than I did.

For me, though, it didn’t have quite enough to challenge the two standout dishes from this visit.

What Should You Order at Flip & Dip?

After two visits, I’ve now tried enough of the menu to start picking out some favourites.

Based purely on what I’ve personally eaten, the donner wrap and peri chicken wings would be my recommendations from this visit, while the peri chicken strips from my original visit are also worth mentioning.

The pizza and chicken rice box were both enjoyable, but I wouldn’t personally go out of my way to recommend them above similar versions I’ve tried elsewhere.

Of course, that’s entirely down to personal taste — and there’s still plenty of the menu I’ve yet to try.

Is Flip & Dip Hamilton Worth Trying?

Two visits down now and I’ve been more than happy with what I’ve had overall.

The viral red donner was what originally got Flip & Dip onto my radar, but my return visit has shown me there’s more worth trying than just the item that generated the social-media attention.

Would I return for a third visit?

Absolutely.

And if I was ordering again tomorrow, that donner wrap and those peri wings would be right at the top of my list.

Flip & Dip Hamilton – My Verdict

Best dish: Donner Wrap 🌯
Very close second: Peri Chicken Wings 🍗
Also worth trying: Peri Chicken Strips
Pizza: Pleasant enough 🍕
Chicken & Rice: Pleasant enough 🍚
Would I return? Yes ✅

This was my second visit to Flip & Dip, and another positive experience overall.

If you’ve been, let me know what you think I should order on visit number three.

I’m building an interactive map of every food spot I’ve visited over the last few years. It will update with every post I make.
