Eddies Chinese Hamilton Review – Huge Portions & Fantastic Value for Money!

Have you tried Eddies Chinese Hamilton?

If there’s one thing we all love when ordering a takeaway, it’s getting plenty of food for our money!

And that’s exactly what we found when we visited Eddies Chinese Takeaway in Burnbank, Hamilton.

On this occasion, we decided to try two of their £9.50 Happy Meals, along with an additional portion of chips.

Now, I’ve tried plenty of Chinese takeaway meal deals over the years, but I genuinely wasn’t prepared for just how much food we were about to receive.

The portion sizes were absolutely HUGE!

But while the value for money was outstanding, how did the food itself compare?

Let’s get into it!

Please note: The £9.50 Happy Meal price was correct at the time of our visit. Prices, menus and offers may have changed since then.

What Did We Order From Eddies Chinese Hamilton

We decided to try two different Happy Meal combinations to get a decent selection of food.

Happy Meal 1 – £9.50

  • Chicken balls
  • Beef curry
  • Rice

Happy Meal 2 – £9.50

  • Salt and chilli chicken wings
  • Chicken chow mein

We also ordered an additional portion of chips.

At £9.50 per Happy Meal, I already thought this sounded like a decent deal.

But when the food arrived, it became clear just how good the value really was!

Eddies Happy Meals – Absolutely Massive Portions!

Let’s start with what I consider the biggest positive of this entire review.

The value for money was fantastic!

I’ve ordered similar meal deals from Chinese takeaways before, and I’ve usually had absolutely no problem finishing them.

But these were on another level!

In fact, I genuinely think one of these Happy Meals might have been enough to feed both of us.

And considering each meal came with a starter and main course, that’s impressive.

If you’re someone who loves getting a substantial portion for your money, Eddies is certainly worth considering based on our experience.

Chicken Chow Mein – An Absolute Monster Portion!

First up was the chicken chow mein.

Now, unlike some of the other Happy Meal combinations, this one didn’t come with an additional portion of rice or chips.

And after seeing the size of it, I completely understood why!

The chicken chow mein was an absolute monster portion!

There was certainly no need for anything extra.

In terms of flavour, it was pretty much exactly what I expected from a Chinese takeaway chow mein.

Nothing particularly surprising or groundbreaking, but enjoyable enough.

I wouldn’t say I was blown away by it, but it’s definitely the sort of dish I could happily eat on a regular basis.

And when you consider the portion size alongside the price of the Happy Meal, it’s difficult to complain.

A very filling and decent takeaway dish.

Beef Curry and Rice – Another Generous Portion

Next up was Kirstie’s beef curry and rice.

Again, the portion size was impressive.

Considering this was part of a £9.50 meal deal that also included a starter, there was plenty of food.

Now, Kirstie didn’t think the curry was quite up there with the very best Chinese curries she’s tried.

However, she still enjoyed it.

One thing she did specifically mention was that the beef was good, which is always a positive.

Overall, another decent dish that delivered exactly what we were expecting.

Chicken Balls – Still Looking for Something Special!

Now, onto the chicken balls.

I’ll be completely upfront here.

Chicken balls have never really been something I’ve particularly enjoyed ordering.

In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever had a portion where I’ve wanted to eat more than one!

And unfortunately, this visit didn’t change that opinion.

That’s not necessarily a criticism of Eddies Chinese Hamilton.

It’s simply a dish I’ve never been particularly enthusiastic about.

But I’m always willing to have my mind changed!

If you know a Chinese takeaway around Lanarkshire that serves absolutely outstanding chicken balls, please let me know.

I’d genuinely love to find somewhere that changes my opinion.

Salt and Chilli Chicken Wings – Decent Enough

The other starter we tried was the salt and chilli chicken wings.

And these were decent enough.

I’ve found over the years that salt and chilli wings can sometimes be a wee bit too salty and sickly for my personal taste.

And that was something I noticed here as well.

However, I think that’s more down to my own preferences than anything Eddies did particularly wrong.

If you’re a big fan of salt and chilli chicken wings, you might have a completely different opinion.

For me, they were enjoyable enough without being particularly memorable.

Is Eddies Chinese Hamilton Good Value for Money?

Absolutely!

And this is where Eddies Chinese Hamilton really impressed me.

When you’re ordering a takeaway, there are generally a few things you’re looking for.

Good food, reasonable prices and portions that leave you feeling satisfied.

Eddies certainly delivered on the last two.

The sheer quantity of food we received for £19 across the two Happy Meals was excellent.

And that’s before considering the additional portion of chips we ordered.

As I mentioned earlier, I genuinely think one Happy Meal could potentially have been enough for both of us.

That’s not something I say very often!

In fact, I’d go as far as saying this is now the Chinese takeaway meal deal I’ll compare others against when it comes to value for money.

That’s a pretty big compliment.

My Overall Eddies Chinese Hamilton Review

So, what did I think of Eddies Chinese Hamilton overall?

I think the best way to describe it is that it delivered exactly what I expected.

The food was decent.

The portions were enormous.

And the value for money was fantastic.

In terms of flavour, I wouldn’t say anything particularly blew me away.

But that’s something I’ve found with quite a few Chinese takeaways I’ve tried over the years.

I often find the food enjoyable and filling without necessarily being something I’d rave about.

And I’m fully aware that’s just my own personal preference.

There will undoubtedly be people who absolutely love Eddies Chinese Hamilton, and that’s fair enough!

For me, the biggest reason to recommend it would be the value.

If you’re looking for a substantial Chinese takeaway meal without spending a fortune, Eddie’s certainly delivered on our visit.

Would I Order From Eddies Chinese Hamilton Again?

Yes, particularly if I was looking for a good-value takeaway.

While the food didn’t necessarily stand out as anything exceptional, there was nothing that would put me off returning.

And those Happy Meal portion sizes were difficult to ignore!

I’d also be interested in trying a few different dishes next time to see whether anything particularly stands out.

But for now, Eddie’s has set a pretty high standard when it comes to Chinese takeaway meal deals.
