If you’re looking for burgers in Hamilton, there’s a good chance you’ve heard of Burgur Grill on Gateside Street.
It’s somewhere I’d been recommended countless times.
Honestly, I lost count of how many people told me I needed to give it a try!
But for one reason or another, I just never seemed to get around to visiting.
Eventually, we decided enough was enough.
It was time to find out what all the fuss was about.
Would Burgur Grill Hamilton live up to the hype?
Well…
This turned out to be a proper mixed experience!
One of the burgers was absolutely outstanding.
The other?
Unfortunately, I really didn’t enjoy it.
Let’s get into it!
Please note: This is an older review from my Ribz Reviews archives. Menu items, ingredients, prices and availability may have changed since my original visit.
What Did We Order at Burgur Grill Hamilton?
For our first visit, we decided to try a selection of food.
Our order included:
- Dipped Chicken Burger
- Burgg Khalifa
- Chicken Wings
I’d heard plenty of good things about the burgers here, so I was looking forward to seeing whether they lived up to their reputation.
And things actually got off to a fantastic start.
Dipped Chicken Burger – Absolutely Superb!

Let’s start with the biggest positive of the entire visit.
The Dipped Chicken Burger! 🍔
And I’ll tell you something…
This was an absolute belter!
From the very first bite, I could tell I was going to enjoy it.
Everything worked really well together, and the combination of flavours was fantastic.
The chicken burger was coated in a spicy sauce, which gave it plenty of flavour.
Now, I’ll admit I had slightly misunderstood what I was ordering.
I’d previously seen a review featuring what looked like a burger served with a dipping sauce.
So when I spotted the Dipped Chicken Burger on the menu, I assumed that was what I’d be getting.
Turns out the burger itself was dipped in the sauce!
But that was entirely my misunderstanding.
And it certainly didn’t take anything away from how good it tasted.
This was genuinely one of the most enjoyable chicken burgers I’d tried in a while.
My only real complaint?
I wish I’d had more of it! 😂
Honestly, if I’d stopped eating after that chicken burger, I think I’d have walked away putting Burgur Grill Hamilton among the elite burger places I’d tried.
It really was that good.
Unfortunately, there was still another burger to get through.

Chicken Wings – Another Positive!
We also ordered some chicken wings.
And these were nice too!
I enjoyed them, and they were another positive from the visit.
They didn’t quite steal the show in the same way as the Dipped Chicken Burger, but they were a welcome addition to the meal.
So far, things were looking pretty good.
A fantastic chicken burger and enjoyable wings.
But then came the Burgg Khalifa.

Burgg Khalifa – Five Beef Patties, but Not for Me!
Now, this is where things took a turn.
We also ordered the Burgg Khalifa.
And this thing was an absolute monster!
The version we ordered featured:
- Five beef patties
- Turkey rashers
- Cheese
- Sauce
- Burger bun
A serious amount of burger!
At the time of our visit, it cost around £20.
But I’m not even going to focus on the price here.
Because regardless of what it cost, the main issue was simple.
I just didn’t enjoy this burger. At all.
And I was genuinely disappointed.
Especially after how much I’d enjoyed the chicken burger.

What Was Wrong With the Burgg Khalifa?
This is the frustrating part.
I couldn’t actually put my finger on exactly what I didn’t like.
Was it the beef?
The turkey rashers?
The sauce?
Or simply the combination of everything together?
I’m honestly not sure.
But something about the flavour really didn’t work for me.
And it was off-putting enough that I actually struggled to get through the burger.
The only reason I managed to finish it was because I was absolutely starving!
Now, I want to make something very clear.
This is entirely down to my personal taste.
I know plenty of people absolutely love the burgers from Burgur Grill.
And the Burgg Khalifa might be somebody else’s favourite thing on the menu.
But for whatever reason, it just wasn’t for me.
Sometimes you order something that looks incredible on paper, but the flavours don’t quite suit your preferences.
And that’s exactly what happened here.
Chicken Burger vs Beef Burger – Two Completely Different Experiences

What made this visit so unusual was just how different my opinions were on the two burgers.
On one hand, I had the Dipped Chicken Burger.
An absolutely fantastic burger that I would happily recommend.
On the other hand, I had the Burgg Khalifa.
A burger that I really struggled to enjoy.
And that’s what makes reviewing food so interesting.
Two dishes from the same restaurant can leave you with completely different impressions.
If I’d only ordered the chicken burger, this would probably have been an overwhelmingly positive review.
But because I tried both, I left feeling a bit torn.
Would I Return to Burgur Grill Hamilton?
This is a difficult one!
Part of me would absolutely love to return for another Dipped Chicken Burger.
It really was outstanding.
But another part of me remembers how disappointed I was with the beef burger.
And when you’re spending money on a takeaway, you obviously want to enjoy what you’re ordering.
So would I go back?
I think I probably would.
Not necessarily straight away, but at some point I’d be interested in giving Burgur Grill another try.
Perhaps I simply chose the wrong beef burger for my personal taste.
Maybe something else on the menu would be more up my street.
Or perhaps I’d just stick with the chicken burger that I already know I enjoyed!
Either way, I wouldn’t completely write somewhere off based on one disappointing dish.
Especially when another item from the same order was so good.
My Overall Burgur Grill Hamilton Review
All in all, this was a very mixed experience.
There were some definite positives.
The Dipped Chicken Burger was absolutely superb.
It was packed with flavour, worked brilliantly as a combination and left me wanting more.
The chicken wings were enjoyable too.
Unfortunately, the Burgg Khalifa really wasn’t for me.
Despite its impressive size and the positive reputation surrounding the burgers, I simply didn’t enjoy the flavours.
And that disappointment did overshadow the overall experience.
But as I always say with my reviews…
Food is subjective!
Just because something isn’t to my taste doesn’t mean you won’t absolutely love it.
And I certainly wouldn’t discourage anyone from trying Burger Grill and making up their own mind.
There was enough good food in our order to convince me that it’s somewhere worth considering again.
