Skranit Bellshill Review – A Delightful Steak Melt Baguette!

Have you tried Skranit Bellshill?

There’s something about a good steak baguette that I find almost impossible to resist.

Give me some steak, melted cheese, fried onions and a decent sauce, and you’ve already got my attention.

It’s one of those combinations that doesn’t need to be overly complicated to be absolutely brilliant.

And that’s exactly what caught my eye when I stopped into Skranit on Main Street in Bellshill.

I was having a wee wander around Bellshill, checking out some of the local food options, when I decided to pop into Skranit and see what they had to offer.

As usual, the plan was to find something tasty, give it a try and share my thoughts.

This time, I settled on the Skranit Signature Steak Melt Baguette.

And I’ll tell you something.

It’s a winning combination if ever I’ve seen one!

Visiting Skranit Bellshill on Main Street.

One of my favourite things about reviewing food around Lanarkshire is discovering smaller local businesses.

Sometimes I’ll visit somewhere specifically because people have recommended it.

Other times, I’ll be out and about, spot somewhere that looks interesting and decide to give it a go.

That’s part of the fun.

You never quite know what you’re going to find.

On this particular visit to Bellshill, I decided to stop into Skranit Bellshill and have a look at what was available.

I wasn’t there for a massive food challenge or one of those ridiculous takeaway boxes that could comfortably feed half of Lanarkshire.

I just fancied something good to eat.

And when I spotted the Signature Steak Melt Baguette, that was my decision made.

Steak, cheese, onions and peppercorn sauce?

Aye, that’ll do nicely!

What Is in the Skranit Signature Steak Melt Baguette?

Skranit Bellshill

The baguette I ordered came with four ingredients that work brilliantly together:

  • Steak
  • Cheese
  • Fried onions
  • Peppercorn sauce

All served in a baguette.

Now, you can get some pretty adventurous sandwich combinations these days.

And don’t get me wrong, I enjoy trying something a wee bit different.

But sometimes you really don’t need to mess about with a classic combination.

Steak and onions are already a great partnership.

Add cheese into the equation and things start getting even better.

Then finish it off with peppercorn sauce?

You’re speaking my language.

It’s the sort of baguette that immediately appeals to me because every ingredient has a reason to be there.

Nothing unnecessary.

Just a combination of flavours that makes perfect sense.

The Steak, Cheese and Fried Onion Combination

Let’s start with the main attraction.

Steak and cheese.

There are plenty of ways to put together a steak sandwich, but this is definitely one of my favourite styles.

The steak gives you the main event, while the cheese brings everything together.

Then you’ve got the fried onions.

And honestly, fried onions can make such a difference to a sandwich like this.

They’re one of those simple additions that work particularly well with beef.

Whether you’re having a steak baguette, a cheeseburger or something completely different, onions are often exactly what the meal needs.

Put those three ingredients together and you’re already onto something good.

But Skranit wasn’t stopping there.

There was still the peppercorn sauce to consider.

Peppercorn Sauce – The Finishing Touch

Now, I do love a good peppercorn sauce.

Especially when it’s paired with steak.

It’s a combination you’ll find on plenty of restaurant menus, usually alongside a steak dinner.

But there’s absolutely no reason it shouldn’t work in a baguette too.

In fact, when you think about it, it’s a pretty obvious match.

You’ve already got the steak, cheese and fried onions.

The peppercorn sauce adds another layer to the combination and helps turn what could have been a fairly standard steak baguette into something a bit more interesting.

And for me, it worked.

Steak, cheese, fried onions and peppercorn sauce is an absolutely winning combination.

Sometimes that’s really all you need to say about a meal.

You don’t need some complicated explanation or a massive breakdown of every ingredient.

You just need to know whether the flavours work together.

And in this case, they certainly did.

Sometimes Simple Food Is the Best Food

One thing I’ve noticed over the years of reviewing restaurants, cafés and takeaways is that the most memorable meals aren’t always the most elaborate.

I’ve tried plenty of dishes with unusual ingredients, massive portions and combinations that sound absolutely mental on paper.

Some have been brilliant.

Others have been a bit of a disaster.

But there’s something to be said for a business taking a straightforward idea and doing it well.

That’s what appealed to me about this baguette.

It wasn’t trying to reinvent the wheel.

It was a steak melt with a combination of ingredients that I already knew I’d enjoy.

And that’s exactly what I got.

Simple food, a cracking combination and a very enjoyable wee stop.

You can’t really ask for much more than that.

Friendly Service at Skranit Bellshill

Something else I always like to mention in my reviews is the service.

Because as much as the food is obviously important, the people serving it can make a real difference to your experience.

And I have to give a wee mention to the ladies working in Skranit during my visit.

Absolutely lovely ladies serving in the shop.

Friendly service is always a big bonus for me.

It doesn’t matter whether I’m visiting a fancy restaurant, a wee café or somewhere I’m just grabbing a quick baguette.

Being made to feel welcome makes the whole experience better.

And it’s something I always appreciate.

Good food might get somebody through the door in the first place, but a pleasant experience certainly helps encourage them to return.

So credit where it’s due.

The ladies at Skranit helped make this a really enjoyable visit.

Would I Return to Skranit Bellshill?

Absolutely.

And that’s probably one of the simplest ways to sum up how I felt about this visit.

I stopped in to see what was on offer, ordered the Signature Steak Melt Baguette and thoroughly enjoyed the combination.

The ingredients worked well together, the service was lovely and I left with a positive impression of the place.

Would I order the steak melt again?

I’d certainly be happy to.

Although knowing me, there’s every chance I’d end up trying something completely different on a return visit.

That’s one of the problems with reviewing food.

Even when you find something you really enjoy, there’s always another dish waiting to be tried! 😂

But there’s no doubt that Skranit is somewhere I’d happily return to in the future.

My Final Verdict – Skranit Signature Steak Melt Baguette

Sometimes a food review doesn’t need to involve a massive feast, a complicated dish or an outrageous combination.

Sometimes you just find something that works.

And that’s exactly how I’d describe my visit to Skranit.

The Signature Steak Melt Baguette brought together steak, cheese, fried onions and peppercorn sauce.

Four ingredients that, in my opinion, are absolutely made for each other.

It was a simple but thoroughly enjoyable choice.

Add in the lovely ladies serving in the shop, and it was a positive experience all round.

Would I go back? Without a doubt.

And that’s another Bellshill food stop ticked off the list.

Where Does the Best Steak Baguette in Lanarkshire?

Now here’s something I’d genuinely love to know.

I’ve tried a fair few steak sandwiches and baguettes over the years, and it’s one of those foods I never seem to get bored of.

But there’s always room for another contender.

Where in Lanarkshire does your favourite steak baguette or steak sandwich?

And more importantly, are you going for peppercorn sauce, gravy or something completely different?

Let me know where I should be heading next.
