I’ve been meaning to try Cosmo Buffet at the St Enoch Centre in Glasgow for a while now, so we finally got round to visiting.
And as someone who enjoys a good all-you-can-eat buffet, I was looking forward to seeing how this one compared to some of the other buffets we’ve tried around Glasgow.
At £22 per person, was Cosmo Buffet worth the money?
Well, there were definitely some positives, but unfortunately, there were a few things that let the overall experience down.
Here’s how we got on.
Cosmo Buffet at St Enoch Centre, Glasgow
📍 Cosmo World Buffet – St Enoch Centre, Glasgow
This was our first visit to Cosmo Buffet at the St Enoch Centre.
Whenever we visit an all-you-can-eat buffet, we generally try to go at lunchtime and as close to opening as possible.
The thinking behind that is pretty simple.
The food should be freshly prepared, everything should be nice and warm, and you’re hopefully getting the best possible experience.
And to be fair to Cosmo, that was certainly the case when we visited.
Everything we tried was at a decent temperature, and the food appeared fresh.
A good start.
But as we worked our way around the different sections, we found some things were considerably better than others.

How Much Does Cosmo Buffet Glasgow Cost?
At the time of our visit, we paid £22 per person for the all-you-can-eat buffet.
Refillable soft drinks were available at an additional cost.
Based on our final bill, I reckon the refillable drinks worked out at approximately £4 each, although I didn’t check the exact individual price.
So you’re looking at roughly £26 per person if you’re adding a refillable drink.
Obviously, buffet prices can vary depending on the day, time and any special offers, so it’s worth checking the current prices before visiting.
For £22, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect a good selection of food, decent quality and everything to be properly staffed.
And while Cosmo delivered in some areas, I felt it fell short in others.
What We Enjoyed at Cosmo Buffet Glasgow

Let’s start with the positives because there were certainly a few things I liked.
The Food Was Fresh and Warm
As I mentioned earlier, we arrived close to opening time.
And one of the biggest positives was that everything appeared fresh and was served at a good temperature.
That’s always something I look for when visiting a buffet.
There’s nothing worse than paying for an all-you-can-eat experience only to find food that’s been sitting out for ages.
Thankfully, that wasn’t an issue here.
Made-to-Order Grill Stations
One of the things that initially impressed me about Cosmo was the selection of grill stations.
Rather than everything being sitting out ready to serve yourself, there were a couple of sections where food could be prepared to order.
Options included:
- Burgers
- Steak
- Scallops
- Chicken skewers
- A selection of other freshly cooked items
I think this is a great addition to any buffet.
It gives you something a wee bit different from the usual trays of food, and having something cooked fresh in front of you is always a bonus.
Unfortunately, there was a downside to these stations, which I’ll come back to shortly.

Sunday Roast and Carvery Section
Another positive was the Sunday roast section.
There was a decent selection of traditional roast dinner options, including lamb, gammon and turkey.
Alongside the meats, you had your usual roast dinner accompaniments, including potatoes, vegetables and Yorkshire puddings.
And they even had dauphinoise potatoes.
Which is always a winner in my book.
I quite like seeing a proper carvery section at a buffet because it gives people another option if they’re not particularly interested in curries, Chinese food or some of the other international dishes.
It’s also handy if you’re visiting with a group where everyone enjoys different types of food.

Sushi Selection
There was also a decent selection of sushi available.
Now, I’ll be the first to admit that sushi isn’t really my thing.
It’s not something I tend to eat much of when visiting a buffet.
But there appeared to be a reasonable variety available, so if you’re a sushi fan, this might be one of the sections you’d enjoy.
I can’t really comment on the quality because it’s not something I properly explored.
Chocolate Fountain and Desserts

Now we’re talking.
For me, a chocolate fountain should be a staple at every buffet.
I don’t know what it is, but there’s just something about being able to dip wee cakes and other desserts into warm chocolate sauce that makes a buffet experience better.
And thankfully, Cosmo had one.
There was also a selection of wee cakes available.
Nothing particularly fancy, and they were the fairly generic cakes you’ll find at plenty of buffets.
But that doesn’t mean they weren’t enjoyable.
Especially when dipped into the chocolate fountain!
There was also the option to make your own wee ice cream cones, which is another nice addition.
So overall, I thought the dessert selection had a few decent options.
Although there was one strange issue with the dessert area, which I’ll mention below.
What Let Cosmo Buffet Glasgow Down?
Unfortunately, despite the positives, there were several areas where I felt Cosmo could have been considerably better.
And some of these had quite a big impact on my overall opinion.
The Indian Food Was Disappointing
This was probably my biggest disappointment of the entire visit.
Whenever I go to a world buffet, the Indian section is generally where I spend most of my time.
I love a good curry, and I’m always looking forward to trying the different Indian dishes available.
Unfortunately, I thought the Indian selection at Cosmo left a lot to be desired.
For starters, there wasn’t a particularly big selection.
There was no vegetable pakora available when we visited.
The chicken pakora was mostly batter.
And the curries themselves weren’t particularly impressive.
Some were very oily, while others were lacking in flavour.
Overall, I found the Indian section quite disappointing.
And considering that’s normally one of my favourite parts of visiting a buffet, it definitely affected how much I enjoyed the experience.
Grill Stations Were Poorly Staffed
Remember those made-to-order grill stations I mentioned earlier?
Well, while I think they’re a great idea in principle, they weren’t particularly well executed during our visit.
Despite waiting around longer than I would have liked, I only managed to get served at one of the grill sections.
And that’s frustrating.
If you’re going to advertise freshly prepared steak, scallops, burgers and other dishes as part of your buffet, there really needs to be someone available to cook them.
Otherwise, what’s the point?
I genuinely think these stations could be one of Cosmo’s biggest selling points.
But if customers are standing around waiting with nobody there to serve them, it takes away from the experience.
Had these sections been better staffed, I probably would have come away with a more positive impression.
Pizza and Pasta Section Was Very Poor
Another area that I found disappointing was the pizza and pasta selection.
There were only two pizzas available during our visit.
Plain cheese and pepperoni.
Now, there’s nothing wrong with either of those, but for a world buffet charging £22 per person, I expected a wee bit more variety.
And unfortunately, the pasta wasn’t much better.
The macaroni cheese was genuinely one of the blandest I’ve ever tried.
And that’s saying something.
There were a couple of other pasta options available, but none looked particularly appealing to me.
Overall, I thought this section was very underwhelming.
No Bowls at the Dessert Station
This might sound like a small complaint, but there were no bowls available at the dessert section when we visited.
Which is a bit strange considering some of the desserts would be much easier to eat from a bowl.
It’s not exactly something that’s going to ruin your entire meal.
But when you start adding up all the wee issues, they do affect the overall experience.
And for a buffet of this size, I’d expect something as basic as dessert bowls to be available.
Is Cosmo Buffet Glasgow Worth £22?
This is where things get a wee bit tricky.
Because I wouldn’t describe Cosmo as a bad buffet.
There were definitely things I enjoyed.
The food was fresh and warm, the carvery section was a nice addition, and I liked the idea of the made-to-order grill stations.
The chocolate fountain was also a welcome sight.
But unfortunately, there were too many areas that I found disappointing.
The Indian selection was poor, the pizza and pasta section wasn’t particularly good, and the lack of service at some of the grill stations was frustrating.
At £22 per person, I don’t think the price itself is unreasonable for an all-you-can-eat buffet.
But I do think the overall experience needs to justify that price.
And for me personally, Cosmo didn’t quite manage that.
How Does Cosmo Compare to Other Glasgow Buffets?
One of the biggest problems for Cosmo, in my opinion, is the competition.
Glasgow has several all-you-can-eat buffet options, and there are two in particular that would influence my decision about returning.
Hot World Buffet is only a short drive away, while Marbles Buffet is within walking distance.
Having those alternatives nearby makes it difficult for me to see why I’d choose to return to Cosmo based on this experience.
That’s not to say everyone will have the same opinion.
If you’re particularly interested in the carvery, sushi or freshly cooked grill options, you might enjoy Cosmo considerably more than I did.
But when I look at the overall experience, I personally feel there are other buffet restaurants in Glasgow that I’d rather visit.
Cosmo Buffet Glasgow – My Final Verdict
So, would I recommend Cosmo Buffet at the St Enoch Centre?
This is one of those reviews where I find myself sitting somewhere in the middle.
I wouldn’t describe it as a bad buffet, but I wouldn’t feel particularly comfortable recommending it as a good one either.
For me, it was a very mid-tier buffet experience.
There were some positives.
The food was fresh and warm, the carvery section was decent, and I liked the variety offered by the grill stations.
But the disappointing Indian food, poor pizza and pasta selection, and issues with getting served at the grill stations brought the overall experience down.
And considering how much I normally enjoy the Indian section at a buffet, that was a particularly big disappointment.
Had the grill stations been properly staffed, I might have been a wee bit more complimentary.
But unfortunately, that wasn’t the case during our visit.
Would I return? Probably not.
Not because it was terrible.
Simply because there are other buffet options nearby that I’d rather spend my money on.
Of course, this is only based on our own experience, and other people might have a completely different opinion.
But for me, Cosmo Glasgow sits firmly in the middle of the pack.
