A spicy chicken pizza stop from macdonners bellshill
There aren’t many things in life I love more than a good spicy chicken pizza, so when I popped into MacDonners on Bellshill Main Street, there was only really one thing I was going to order.
I’ve tried plenty of spicy chicken pizzas over the years, and one thing I’ve learned is that everyone’s idea of a spicy chicken pizza seems to be completely different.
Some are absolutely loaded with heat, others are more about the flavour, and occasionally you’ll find one that manages to get the balance just right.
So how did this one compare?
Trying the Spicy Chicken Pizza at MacDonners
The first thing that caught my attention was the appearance.
This had a proper old-school spicy chicken pizza look about it. You know the type where you take one look at the toppings and think it’s going to blow a hole right through you! 😂
I was fully expecting a serious kick from this one.
Surprisingly, though, it wasn’t nearly as spicy as I’d imagined.
There was a bit of heat, but nothing particularly overwhelming. If you’re someone who likes your spicy chicken pizza to really pack a punch, you might find this one a little milder than expected.
Flavour-wise, however, I really enjoyed it.
The chicken had a lovely flavour, and there was a healthy amount of toppings spread across the pizza.
A Crispy Base and Plenty of Cheese
One of the things I particularly enjoyed was the base.
It had a really nice crispiness to it, which is something I always appreciate when ordering a pizza.
There was also plenty of cheese, and combined with the generous amount of toppings, it made for a really enjoyable pizza.
Sometimes you order a pizza and feel like they’ve been a little stingy with the toppings, but that certainly wasn’t my impression here.
Everything came together nicely.
For me, the only thing that would have improved it would have been a little extra heat, but that’s purely personal preference.
MacDonners Bellshill Lunch Menu
Something else I noticed during my visit was that MacDonners also offers a lunchtime menu.
From what I could see, there appeared to be some pretty good-value options available.
I didn’t try anything from the lunch menu on this particular visit, so I can’t comment on the quality of those dishes just yet.
However, it’s definitely something I’d consider returning for.
I’m always interested in finding good-value lunch options around Lanarkshire, particularly places where you can grab something tasty without spending a fortune.
A return visit to sample a few of those options could well be on the cards.
My Overall Thoughts on MacDonners Bellshill
All things considered, I really enjoyed my spicy chicken pizza from MacDonners.
It wasn’t quite the fiery experience I was expecting when I first saw it, but there was plenty to like.
The crispy base, generous cheese and healthy portion of toppings made it a satisfying pizza, and the flavour of the chicken was really nice.
Would I have liked it a little spicier? Absolutely.
Would I happily eat it again? Definitely.
And with that lunchtime menu catching my attention, there’s every chance I’ll be back to see what else they’ve got to offer.
