Fireaway Pizza East Kilbride Review – Pizza, Wings & Cannoli

📍 Fireaway Pizza, 15 Maxwellton Avenue, East Kilbride

I took a trip up to Fireaway Pizza in East Kilbride to see how their pizzas stack up against some of the other pizza places I’ve tried locally.

We decided to keep one pizza simple with a plain cheese, while going in the complete opposite direction with a Meat Feast. We also added some fiery wings on the side before finishing with cookie dough and hazelnut-filled cannoli for dessert.

Overall, there were a couple of things I’d definitely order again – including one dessert I’d happily travel back for.

What We Ordered at Fireaway Pizza

For this visit we tried:

  • Plain Cheese Pizza
  • Meat Feast Pizza
  • Fiery Wings
  • Cookie Dough
  • Hazelnut-Filled Cannoli

It gave us a decent mix of the menu to try, from the pizzas themselves to sides and desserts.

Plain Cheese Pizza

Sometimes keeping things simple is the best way to judge a pizza, and I actually really enjoyed the plain cheese.

There was nothing particularly complicated about it, but it did exactly what I wanted it to do. I’d have absolutely no problem ordering and eating this again on another visit.

Out of the two pizzas we tried, the plain cheese was comfortably my favourite.

Meat Feast Pizza

The Meat Feast should normally be right up my street.

Give me a pizza covered in meat and I’m usually pretty happy, but unfortunately this one didn’t quite do it for me.

There wasn’t necessarily anything terrible about it – it just wasn’t something I particularly enjoyed and I’d definitely choose a different pizza if I returned.

It’s all personal preference, of course, but considering this would normally be the sort of pizza I’d pick from a menu, I was a little disappointed by this one.

Fiery Wings

Things picked back up again with the fiery wings.

These had a good kick without taking the heat too far.

I like spicy food, but there’s a point where adding more heat starts taking away from actually enjoying what you’re eating. These stayed on the right side of that line for me.

Spicy enough to deserve the fiery name, but still enjoyable.

Hazelnut Cannoli – The Surprise Winner

And then we got to dessert.

I didn’t actually try the cookie dough, so I can’t really give you a fair opinion on that.

The hazelnut-filled cannoli, though?

Absolutely on point.

These were probably the biggest surprise of the whole visit and easily one of my favourite things we ordered.

In fact, I’d happily travel back up to Fireaway just to get the cannoli again.

I went looking to see how the pizzas compared with other local options and somehow came away thinking about the dessert instead.

Typical Ribz Reviews.

Is Fireaway Pizza East Kilbride Worth Trying?

Overall, I was happy enough with my experience at Fireaway Pizza.

There were some definite positives. I really enjoyed the plain cheese pizza, the fiery wings had a nice level of heat and those hazelnut cannoli were brilliant.

The Meat Feast wasn’t really for me, despite normally being exactly the type of pizza I’d order.

Would I eat from Fireaway again? Absolutely.

Was I blown away enough that I’ll be rushing back or making it one of my regular pizza spots? Probably not.

But I’d happily give it another go, try some different pizzas from the menu and, most importantly, get another portion of those cannoli.
