Efes Turkish Restaurant Uddingston Review – Is the £17.95 Lunch Menu Worth Trying?

📍 Efes Turkish Restaurant, Glasgow Road, Uddingston

So let’s get this right out the way before we even talk about the food…

This looks amazing 😃

Efes Turkish Restaurant in Uddingston is one of those places where the food arriving at the table immediately gets your attention.

I only really had one wee complaint about the entire experience, but we’ll get to that later. First, let’s start with the positives.

The Service

Service was great from the second we came through the door until the moment we left.

Happy, cheerful staff, very welcoming and helpful throughout the meal.

Always a good start.

Balloon Bread & Garlic Butter

Before the main event, we were brought out the balloon bread.

Delightful. 🫡🫡

A huge, thin and crispy bread served with garlic butter.

It looked the part when it arrived at the table and was very easy to tear into while we waited for the rest of the food.

Efes Turkish Restaurant Lunch Menu

Menu at the time.

I decided to order from the lunch menu, which was £17.95 for two courses when I visited.

For my starter, I went for the Sucuk.

The menu describes it as:

Grilled Turkish chilli and garlic sausage served with salad.

This was a great shout.

Someone had recommended that I give the Sucuk a try and I’m glad they did because it was a super tasty bit of meat.

Loads of flavour and definitely something I’d happily order again.

Adana Kebab

For my main course I decided to try the Adana Kebab.

This is a traditional lamb mince kebab with herbs and parsley, cooked over the charcoal grill.

Now, I wouldn’t say I didn’t like this.

It was alright.

But that’s probably as far as I’d go with it.

I’m glad I tried it and I’ve absolutely no regrets about ordering it, but I don’t think it would be my choice when I returned.

There were other meats on the table that impressed me much more.

The Meat Platter

I managed to steal — I mean sample — some of the meats from the meat platter as well.

And those chicken wings were exceptional.

Exactly the kind of thing I love from a Turkish grill: plenty of flavour and that lovely char from the cooking.

Based on the bits I tried, I think I’d be very tempted to go down the meat platter route on another visit.

Was the £17.95 Lunch Menu Good Value?

This brings me to my only real negative from the visit.

I didn’t find the two-course lunch to be a lot of food.

It could simply have been down to the two dishes I chose, but I did find myself still hungry afterwards.

Now, in the interests of full disclosure…

I am a bit of a gannet right enough 😂

So maybe take that criticism with a pinch of salt.

Still, if you’re going in absolutely starving, it’s something I’d keep in mind when deciding between the lunch menu and ordering something larger from the main menu.

Would I Go Back to Efes Uddingston?

Definitely.

The Adana Kebab might not have blown me away, but there were more than enough positives elsewhere to make me want another visit.

The Sucuk was excellent, the balloon bread was delightful, the wings I tried from the platter were exceptional and the service was spot on throughout.

Next time, I think I’d skip the lunch menu and go for one of the bigger meat options.

Purely based on the flavours I tried, Efes Turkish Restaurant in Uddingston is definitely somewhere worth checking out.

And aye…

I’ll probably make sure I’m properly fed next time. 😂
