Some outstanding tacos…
📍 Loscolemanos, Glasgow
I’ve been wanting to try Loscolemanos since I first saw them pop up about a year ago, and I finally managed to get along to their pop-up at Hyndland Cafe in Glasgow.

We tried almost everything on the menu and, while there genuinely wasn’t anything we didn’t enjoy, there was one thing that stood above everything else for me.
The Beef Birria.
I’ve always enjoyed beef birria, but I have to say this was by far the best version I’ve ever had.
And that includes all the beef birria I’ve tried in the many Mexican restaurants and taco shops I’ve visited in the U.S. 🇺🇸
It was quite phenomenal.
Beef Birria Tacos

It probably won’t come as much of a surprise that my three favourite dishes from the menu all involved the beef birria.
First up were the beef birria tacos.
Packed with that rich, slow-cooked beef and loads of flavour, these were exactly what I’d hoped for after waiting so long to finally visit Loscolemanos.
If you’re visiting for the first time, these would be right at the top of my list.
Beef Birria Balls

Next were the beef birria balls, another cracking way of using that same brilliant beef.
With us trying almost everything on the menu, there was plenty of competition, but these still managed to make my top three.
Loaded Beef Birria Ramen

Then we have what might be the ultimate comfort food from the entire menu — the loaded beef birria ramen.
This was absolutely superb.
It’s the kind of thing I’d love to have a big stock of in the house for those nights when you’re sitting in front of the tele with the auld jammies on and just want something ridiculously comforting to eat.
Rich beef birria combined with a big bowl of loaded ramen?
That’ll do me.
Is Loscolemanos Worth Visiting?
Absolutely.
We tried almost everything they had available and there wasn’t a single thing I didn’t enjoy.
But the beef birria was the star of the show for me. The tacos, birria balls and loaded ramen were my three favourites, and the birria itself is genuinely the best version I’ve tried so far — even compared with the ones I’ve eaten on my travels around America.
Loscolemanos currently runs a Friday and Saturday night pop-up at Hyndland Cafe and also appears at events throughout the year.
I’d definitely recommend booking in advance because, with food like this, it’s no surprise to see them selling out.
