📍 The Kurry Lounge, Hamilton
78 Brandon Street, ML3 6AB
If you’re looking for an Indian restaurant in Hamilton, The Kurry Lounge is one that had been on our radar for a while.
They’ve picked up a whole host of awards over the years, but rather than just taking everyone else’s word for it, we headed along to give it a try ourselves.
Our first visit was for the lunch menu, and we enjoyed it enough that we ended up returning to try more from the main menu too.
So rather than split them up, here’s how we got on across both visits.
Where is The Kurry Lounge?
The Kurry Lounge is an Indian restaurant located on Brandon Street in Hamilton town centre.
The restaurant specialises in regional dishes from across North and South India, alongside plenty of the familiar favourites you’d expect to find on a Scottish Indian restaurant menu.
The restaurant has also picked up a fair collection of awards over the years, including Best Indian Restaurant in Scotland 2022 and several Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice awards.
But awards are one thing. The food is what we came for.
Trying The Kurry Lounge Lunch Menu
We headed along on a Friday to give their lunch menu a try.
At the time of our visit, it was £10.95 for three courses, which immediately caught my attention.
Three courses for not much more than a tenner is becoming increasingly difficult to find, so if the food was decent, this had the potential to be a cracking little bargain.
There were a few of us eating, which meant we could order a decent selection and try a few different things.
The Starters
Between us, we went for:
- Chicken pakora
- Vegetable pakora
- Garlic mushrooms
You can’t really go far wrong with a plate of pakora to kick off an Indian meal, and getting a few different starters across the table gave us a good introduction to the place.
The garlic mushrooms also gave us something a little different from the usual pakora options.

The Curries
For the mains, we had a nice mixture:
Lamb Rogan Josh
First up was the lamb Rogan Josh.
A Rogan Josh is always a good option if you want something with plenty of flavour without necessarily going straight for one of the hottest curries on the menu.
Chicken Chasni
Next was the chicken Chasni.
If you’ve followed my reviews for any length of time, you’ll probably know I’m partial to a Chasni. That sweet and creamy style of curry is always going to catch my attention.

Chicken Korma
We also went for a chicken Korma, giving us a milder option alongside the other curries.
It might not be the most adventurous curry order in the world, but there’s a reason Korma remains one of the classics.
The Sides
Obviously, you can’t order three curries and leave them sitting on the table themselves.
We also had:
- Chips
- Naan
- Rice
That gave us a bit of everything to get stuck into and made for a pretty substantial lunch considering what we’d paid.

Was The Kurry Lounge Lunch Worth It?
For me, absolutely.
At £10.95 for three courses at the time we visited, I thought the lunch offered excellent value.
Prices and menus can obviously change, so I’d always recommend checking the latest menu directly with the restaurant before visiting.
If you’re in Hamilton and looking for somewhere to sit in for a curry at lunchtime, The Kurry Lounge is definitely one to consider.
And clearly we enjoyed it, because we ended up going back.
Returning to Try The Main Menu
After enjoying the lunch, we returned to The Kurry Lounge to get a better look at what they had to offer from the main menu.
This time we went for a selection of different items, with the mixed grill being one of the main things we wanted to try.

A mixed grill is one of my favourite things to order when visiting an Indian restaurant with a few people.
You get a selection of meats, plenty of different flavours and, most importantly, something everyone can get stuck into in the middle of the table.
Alongside the mixed grill, we ordered a few other dishes from the main menu and turned the second visit into more of a feast.

It also gave us a better idea of The Kurry Lounge beyond the bargain lunch deal.
Sometimes a cheap set menu can get you through the door, but I always think returning and ordering from the wider menu gives you a much better impression of a restaurant overall.
The fact that we wanted to come back after our first visit probably tells you plenty about what we thought.
My Verdict on The Kurry Lounge

Across the two visits, we managed to try everything from chicken and vegetable pakora to garlic mushrooms, three different curries and a mixed grill.
The lunch was the thing that initially grabbed our attention, particularly because of the price at the time, but returning for the main menu meant we got to experience a bit more of what The Kurry Lounge has to offer.
If you’re looking for an Indian restaurant in Hamilton, I definitely think it’s worth sticking The Kurry Lounge on your list.
I’ll no doubt be back again at some point to work my way through a few more dishes.
