Tubby Johns is a fairly new addition to Uddingston, but it already seems to be building quite the reputation.
I’d been seeing it pop up, so naturally it was time to get involved and see what all the fuss was about.
For my first visit, I kept things simple…
Two wraps.
Although there wasn’t much simple about what was inside them 😂.
I went for the Chilli Beef Wrap and Katsu Curry Wrap.
And there was one clear favourite for me.
Chilli Beef Wrap 🌯
First up was the Chilli Beef Wrap.
This thing came loaded with a chopped-up burger, chilli, cheese and jalapeños.
Plenty going on!
You’ve got a wee bit of spice coming through from the chilli and jalapeños, but there was also a nice sweetness in there that helped set the whole thing off.
A cracking loaded wrap and certainly not shy on the filling.
Katsu Curry Wrap 🍛🌯
Then we get to the one I’d be returning for…
The Katsu Curry Wrap.
Crispy chicken, crunchy onion, chips, cheese and curry sauce all absolutely rammed into a wrap.
Was it messy?
Of course it was 😂.
But when you’re ordering something filled with chicken, chips, cheese and curry sauce, I don’t think you’re expecting a clean-shirt experience.
More importantly…
It was absolutely delicious.
The crispy chicken and crunchy onion gave it plenty of texture, while the cheese and curry sauce brought everything together.
This was easily my favourite of the two and something I’d happily go back for again.
What Else Is Tubby Johns Doing?
I’ve also been hearing plenty about their Sunday roast boxes, which apparently have been flying out the door.
After this visit, they’ve definitely caught my attention.
So a return to Tubby Johns might be on the cards sooner rather than later 👀.
Would I Go Back to Tubby Johns?
Absolutely.
Lovely staff, great wraps and a very promising first visit.
Both wraps were enjoyable, but that Katsu Curry Wrap was the standout for me.
If this is the standard they’re starting with, I can understand why Tubby Johns is already getting people talking.
Now I just need to investigate one of those Sunday roast boxes… 😂
