Looking for a quick lunch in Blantyre without sitting down for a full meal?
Blantyre has plenty of places where you can grab something filling on the go, whether you’re after a hot roll, a quick lunch from a local café or something a little more substantial.
I’ve eaten my way around plenty of Blantyre’s local food spots over the years, and these are three places I’ve tried that are worth considering when you need a quick lunch.
1. Tigers Den
Type: Snack van / takeaway
Best for: Quick, filling takeaway food
Tigers Den is an institution around this area in Blantyre. It’s been there as long back as I can remember and I’m talking possibly over 25 years.
What I tried
Many things over the years but most recently some classic rolls n sausage and a cheeseburger
My verdict
Can’t go wrong with a visit to Tigers Den if you want to good old no nonsense snack van experience and when they’ve been going about for so long they must be doing something right.
2. Deli Delights
Type: Takeaway / deli
Best for: Breakfast and lunch
Deli Delights is another Blantyre option that works particularly well when you’re looking for something quick during the day.
With breakfast and lunch options available, it’s the kind of local spot you can drop into, pick something up and get on with your day.
What I tried
Chicken Tikka, Cheese and Onion Toastie
My verdict
I’ve had a good few chicken tikka toasties since doing these reviews and I think this one might be my favourite ones to date or certainly up there.
Quick service, great prices and a cracking wee munch.
3. Central Cafe
Type: Café / Scottish food
Best for: Traditional café favourites
Central Cafe gives you another style of lunch altogether, with the kind of familiar Scottish café food that makes for an easy daytime option in Blantyre.
It’s a good one to consider when you fancy something traditional rather than another chain or fast-food lunch.
What I tried
Breakfast Wrap + Bacon Cheeseburger
My verdict
I’ve had a good few things from here over the years but this was the first time stopping in since starting this page.
Never been disappointed in anything.
They’ve always done a great variety of meals and different specials so it’s good to pop in and see what’s on offer.
Everything in the wrap was cooked perfectly and it was some size to get through.
Off the top of my head I would probably put this in my top 3 breakfast wraps so far and as good as any I remember having.
Well worth a visit.
Lovely people , lovely food and a lovely experience !
Type of place I’d love to go to more often if I didn’t have 10 million other places to try 😂
Where to Grab Lunch in Blantyre
Tigers Den, Deli Delights and Central Cafe all offer something slightly different, but they have one thing in common: they’re handy options when you’re looking for a straightforward lunch in Blantyre.
