Have you been to Cheers Bar Coatbridge.
I don’t get out for a big sit-down breakfast particularly often.
So when I do, apparently my sensible approach is to look through the menu, find one of the biggest breakfasts available and think:
“Aye, I’ll have that.”
That’s pretty much how I ended up taking on the massive Full Scottish Breakfast at Cheers in Coatbridge.
Located inside The Point on Main Street, Cheers is a bar and restaurant serving food throughout the day, but it opens from 10am and has a dedicated breakfast menu.
I headed along to give it a try.
And I certainly wasn’t leaving hungry.
Breakfast at Cheers Coatbridge
Cheers is probably better known to plenty of people around Coatbridge as somewhere for drinks, live sport and entertainment.
However, they also serve food from 10am, including breakfast.
That’s what brought me in on this particular visit.
There are smaller breakfast choices available if you’re looking for something relatively sensible.
I clearly wasn’t.
The Full Scottish Breakfast

When I saw the size of the breakfast available, I just had to go for it.
My plate came absolutely loaded.
We’re talking:
- Two eggs
- Two tattie scones
- Two haggis
- Two black pudding
- Tomato
- Mushrooms
- Beans
And because apparently that wasn’t enough food already…
I also had French toast on the side.
Let’s be completely realistic here.
That’s far too much food for any normal human being to eat for breakfast. 😂
But I gave it a good go.
How Was the Breakfast?

Thankfully, it wasn’t just big for the sake of being big.
Everything was cooked well and I enjoyed working my way through it.
A Full Scottish is one of those meals where there are plenty of individual components that can go wrong.
You’ve got eggs, tattie scones, haggis, black pudding, mushrooms and everything else all needing to arrive together.
On my visit, everything did the job.
It was exactly the sort of hearty breakfast I’d been looking for.
And Then There Was the French Toast…
I do enjoy French toast, so getting some alongside the cooked breakfast was always going to be a bonus.
Did I actually need it after everything else sitting on the plate?
Absolutely not.
Did that stop me?
Also absolutely not.
Sometimes you’ve just got to commit to the cause.
If you’re planning on recreating my order, I’d probably recommend turning up extremely hungry.
You Don’t Need to Order the Monster Breakfast
One thing worth pointing out is that you don’t have to go quite as ridiculous as I did.
Cheers has smaller breakfast options available too.
Those are probably the better choice if you’ve got plans for the rest of the day, don’t fancy having a nap immediately afterwards or have any aspirations whatsoever of eating another meal before tomorrow.
My visit eventually became part of my Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner in Coatbridge guide.
Trying to follow this breakfast immediately with lunch would certainly make that challenge interesting.
The Staff Made the Visit Even Better
The staff deserve a mention too.
They couldn’t have been nicer during my visit and we had a good laugh when I arrived.
That’s always a big plus for me.
Food is obviously the main thing I’m there to review, but the people serving it can make a massive difference to the overall experience.
A friendly welcome immediately makes somewhere feel more relaxed, particularly in a local bar like Cheers.
My experience on that front was excellent.
What Else Does Cheers Serve?
Cheers isn’t purely a breakfast spot.
Once breakfast is finished, the menu moves into proper pub-grub territory.
The current menu includes things like steak pie, Chicken Balmoral, haddock, Chinese chicken curry, salt and chilli chicken, burgers, steaks, Southern fried chicken and pasta dishes. (The Point Coatbridge)
So you could quite easily visit Cheers at a completely different time of day and have a very different meal.
There’s also live sport on more than 15 screens, pool tables and regular weekend entertainment, so this is very much a bar and entertainment venue as well as somewhere to eat. (The Point Coatbridge)
For this visit, though, breakfast was more than enough for me.
Where Is Cheers Coatbridge?
Cheers is part of The Point Coatbridge at:
144 Main Street
Coatbridge
ML5 3BJ
The venue currently opens from 10am daily, which is also when breakfast service begins. (The Point Coatbridge)
As always, menus, prices and opening times can change, so I’d recommend checking the latest information directly with the venue before making a special journey.
Is Cheers Coatbridge Worth Trying for Breakfast?
Based on my visit, yes.
If you’re looking for a substantial Full Scottish breakfast in Coatbridge town centre, Cheers certainly isn’t shy with the portions.
My breakfast was absolutely massive, everything was cooked well and throwing some French toast into the mix certainly didn’t hurt.
The friendly staff were another big positive and made the whole visit even more enjoyable.
Would I order that exact amount of food again?
Probably.
Should I?
That’s a completely different question. 😂
If you have plans to eat lunch afterwards, though, maybe go for one of the smaller options.
My pick: Full Scottish Breakfast
Bonus: French toast
Best feature: A seriously substantial breakfast
