3 Lanarkshire Snack Vans Doing More Than Rolls and Sausage

Looking for the best lanarkshire snack vans?

When you think of a Scottish snack van, you probably picture a roll and sausage, bacon roll and a cup of tea.

Nothing wrong with that. I absolutely love them.

But some of Lanarkshire’s snack vans are taking things a lot further these days.

I’ve visited plenty through my years of reviewing food around Lanarkshire, and these three prove that stopping at a snack van doesn’t necessarily mean settling for the usual breakfast roll.

From loaded lunches to chicken dishes and proper hot meals, here are three Lanarkshire snack vans doing things a little differently.

1. Shell’s Kitchen – East Kilbride

📍 Kelvin Industrial Estate, East Kilbride
🍴 Breakfast & Lunch
💰 Budget-friendly

First up we’re heading to East Kilbride and Shell’s Kitchen.

Based in the Kelvin Industrial Estate, this is exactly the type of place you’d expect to be grabbing a quick breakfast roll on the way to work.

But there’s a lot more going on than that.

I’ve had two visit here and not only was the food delightful but the staff were spot on as well.

What I tried

First time round we got

  • Buffalo Chicken Wrap
  • BBQ chicken Quesadillas
  • Nutella brownie

All these items themselves were class but it was my second visit that stood out the most.

More Than a Breakfast Roll

I went back a second time and got myself beef tacos which you can see above.

I’ve always felt it’s quite difficult to get some really good tacos, or any tacos at all tbh in our area so this was a heavy bonus.

Both visit showing though that they have a great variety.

2. Cosy Corner – Coatbridge

📍 North Caldeen Road, Coatbridge
🍴 Snack Bar / Hot Food

Next we’re heading to Coatbridge for Cosy Corner.

Again, this is a proper local snack van serving workers and anyone looking for a quick breakfast or lunch.

You can absolutely get the traditional snack-van favourites — but that’s not why I’ve included it in this list.

What I tried

Chicken Tikka Madras Toastie

What’s Different?

This wasn’t something I had seen at a snack van before and when I saw it on their social media as a special you bet your bottom buck I was right up there.

If you pop over to their TikTok which I’ve linked below you’ll see a whole host of mouthwatering dishes to choose from.

What I thought

As far as toasties go, we will file this under “would eat everyday”

Spicy without being overly burny.

Chicken tikka , cheese and onion just can’t fail on its own so this obviously was a success.

3. The Food Stop – Cambuslang

📍 Clydesmill Road / Cambuslang Investment Park area
🍴 Breakfast, Lunch & Hot Food

Finally, we’ve got The Food Stop in Cambuslang.

And this is another great example of why you shouldn’t automatically associate snack vans with nothing but breakfast rolls.

Alongside the traditional options, The Food Stop has become known for hot lunch choices including the likes of chicken dishes, wraps, burgers, chips and more.

What I ordered

– Breakfast Wrap

– Buffalo Tenders

– Cajun Pasta

– Salt and Chilli Chicken with Chips 🍟

Definitely Not Just Rolls and Sausage

Let’s start with a the staff, great laugh we had waiting for the food which is always a good bonus.

My wee mate that was out with me has done a few spots and mentioned that this was the friendliest staff he’d came across so far so that’s a good wee compliment.

What I thought

Anyway, onto the food 🥘

Start with the breakfast wrap.

It was packed,.. 7 breakfast items along with cheese and beans.

I genuinely struggled to finish this and had to keep the buffalo tenders for later in the day as I just couldn’t manage after this.

I don’t think I need to say much about the buffalo tenders..  everyone knows anything with buffalo sauce is right in my top tier automatically and this was no different.

I didn’t try any of the other meals but based on Nate’s feedback they were very well received.

Lanarkshire Snack Vans Are Changing

There’s always going to be a place in my heart for a roll and sausage from a snack van.

But these places show there’s a lot more available if you’re willing to look around.

🚐 Shell’s Kitchen – East Kilbride
🚐 Cosy Corner – Coatbridge
🚐 The Food Stop – Cambuslang

All three offer the traditional stuff, but they’re also the kind of places where you can find something a little different for breakfast or lunch.

And I’m sure there are plenty more hiding around Lanarkshire.

Which Lanarkshire snack van should I visit next?

Let me know your favourite — especially if they’re serving something you wouldn’t normally expect to find from a food van.

Menus, prices and opening hours can change, so check directly with each business for the latest information before travelling.
