What is the Cartzilla Las Vegas and why is it one of my favourite Las Vegas Experiences.
Las Vegas isn’t exactly short of unusual things to do, but driving down the Strip in a giant motorised shopping cart has to be up there with one of the strangest.
On my latest trip to Las Vegas, we tried Cartzilla, a giant shopping cart that takes you on a tour of the Las Vegas Strip with music blasting as you go.
I’d seen Cartzilla before and knew immediately it was something I wanted to try.
So, what’s it actually like — and is Cartzilla worth doing in Las Vegas?
Here’s how we got on.
Check out the sites you’ll see in our YouTube video of the trip below.
What Is Cartzilla Las Vegas?
Cartzilla is basically exactly what it sounds like: an enormous motorised shopping cart built to cruise around Las Vegas.
And this isn’t a little novelty vehicle.
The giant cart is powered by a 400-horsepower engine and comes equipped with a sound system and lights. The experience lasts around an hour and takes you out onto Las Vegas Boulevard to see some of the biggest sights on the Strip.
It’s completely ridiculous.
Which is exactly why it works so well in Vegas.
Our Cartzilla Experience
Weve actually done Cartzilla twice now so that shows the enjoyment we got out it first time around.
Once we climbed aboard, we headed out onto the Strip.
One of the best parts of the experience is how much attention the cart gets.
You’re sitting high above the road in what looks like an enormous shopping cart while travelling past some of the most famous casinos in Las Vegas. People on the sidewalks notice you, wave, take photos and film as you go past.
You’re definitely not blending in.
Music is also a big part of the experience, with passengers getting the opportunity to choose songs to play during the ride.
For me, that’s what separates Cartzilla from simply taking a bus tour of the Strip. It’s less about being transported around Las Vegas and more about the experience itself.
What Do You See on Cartzilla?
The route can vary depending on traffic and conditions, but Cartzilla takes you along the Las Vegas Strip and gives you an elevated view of many of its famous sights.
Recent tours have included the Strip, the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign and the Sphere.
Sitting high up in the open cart also gives you a completely different view compared with simply walking along Las Vegas Boulevard.
If it’s your first visit to Vegas, it’s a fun way to take in a lot of the Strip.
But even if you’ve visited several times before, it’s such an unusual way of seeing somewhere familiar that there’s still plenty of novelty to it.

Is Cartzilla Better During the Day or at Night?
If I were choosing purely for the experience, I’d be tempted to go at night.
Las Vegas completely changes once the sun goes down.
You’ve got the lights from the resorts, casinos and attractions along the Strip, plus the Sphere, traffic and crowds below you.
Cartzilla itself also lights up, which adds to the whole experience.
That said, daytime tours give you a clearer look at the hotels and attractions, so it really depends on what you want from it.
We done it both times at night though as seeing all the lights shining bright is what attracted us to it!
How Long Does Cartzilla Take?
The Cartzilla experience is advertised at around one hour.
I’d allow some additional time before and after the ride rather than planning another Vegas reservation immediately afterwards.
Traffic on Las Vegas Boulevard can be unpredictable, particularly during busy periods, major events and road closures.
Is Cartzilla Worth It?
For me, the appeal of Cartzilla is that it’s something completely different.
There are countless ways to see the Las Vegas Strip, from walking it to buses, limousines and even helicopters.
But how often are you going to drive down Las Vegas Boulevard in a giant shopping cart?
It’s silly, loud and attracts a ridiculous amount of attention.
Basically, it’s very Vegas.
Who Would I Recommend Cartzilla For?
I think Cartzilla could be particularly good if you’re visiting Vegas with friends and want an activity you can all experience together.
I’d consider it for:
- Groups of friends
- Couples looking for something different
- First-time Vegas visitors
- Repeat visitors who’ve already done the obvious attractions
- Birthdays and celebrations
- Anyone looking for unusual things to do in Las Vegas
Basically EVERYONE! 😂
If you’re looking for a quiet, serious sightseeing tour, this probably isn’t it.
If you’re happy cruising down the Strip in a massive shopping cart with music playing while strangers take photos of you, you’re probably in the right place.
My Cartzilla Las Vegas Verdict
There are some experiences that could only really exist in Las Vegas.
I’d put Cartzilla firmly in that category.
Would I recommend adding it to your Vegas itinerary?
To me… absolute must. Just for a break from the norm and see the strip from a different perspective.
You can watch our full Cartzilla experience in the video above to see exactly what it’s like before deciding whether to add it to your own Las Vegas trip.
